This four-hour AKC Hand Stripping Certificate Course will focus on the history, physiology, tools, and techniques of hand stripping and will end with a demo of a breed standard grooming on a wire coat and a sporting dog. This course is designed to give groomers an in-depth understanding of hand stripping to better serve the needs of the dog and client.
Scott will discuss how to choose the right tools, proper techniques, bathing, conditioning, and how to start puppies and groom the geriatric dog. He will also be teaching the ways of staging a coat, rolling a coat, trimming flatwork, and how to establish quality furnishings and feathering. In addition, time allotment and how to price will also be discussed.
Hand stripping isn’t just for show dogs! Hand stripping and carding can be utilized on a regular basis in your salon. Scott will cover working with the pet clients to help keep them in top shape with easy maintenance, as well as how to promote healthy skin and coat using simple, easy-to-use techniques. These techniques may be used on wire-coated and spaniel-type mixed breeds as well!
This class is a great addition to your grooming association certification, or the perfect opportunity to be introduced to the world of continuing education. The AKC will mail a frameable certificate to everyone attending the course 8 to 12 weeks after course end.
